Gal Gadot reacts to Wonder Woman 1984 coming to HBO Max

November 19, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Gal Gadot, the star of Wonder Woman 1984, has reacted to the news that the movie will be coming to HBO Max at the same time as cinemas.

With all the problems the pandemic is causing cinemas around the world, it isn’t a huge surprise that Warner Bros. decided for a different approach with Wonder Woman 1984, bringing it to HBO Max and cinemas concurrently.

At the very least it means audiences will get to see the film this December and Gal Gadot has reacted to the news by expressing her excitement for everyone to finally see it:

“IT’S TIME. We’ve all waited a long time for this one to come. I can’t tell you how excited I am for all of you to see this movie. It wasn’t an easy decision and we never thought we’d have to hold onto the release for such a long time but Covid rocked all of our worlds. We feel the movie has never been so relevant and we hope that it’ll bring some joy, hope and love to your hearts. ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is a special one for me and I can only hope it’ll be as special to you too. We’ve put our hearts and souls into it. So… you can watch it IN THEATERS (they’re doing an amazing job keeping it safe) and you can watch it on HBO Max from your homes. Sending you my love. Please keep safe and wear a mask. Happy holidays to all of us! Let the light shine in.”

Will this be a trend for other big movies coming up? Marvel movies, like DC, are in a fortunate position to have access to a streaming platform in Disney+ so perhaps we will see Black Widow arrive at a similar fate.

Hopefully, things will improve in 2021, however, so theatrical releases will be the main option once again.

Wonder Woman 1984 reunites Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins with stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as Maxwell Lord, and Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
