Josh Duhamel to lead heist thriller Bandit

November 2, 2020 by Gary Collinson

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Duhamel (Transformers) is set to star in the heist thriller Bandit, which is being helmed by Allan Ungar, the director behind the Uncharted Live Action Fan Film which went viral back in 2018 and saw Nathan Fillion in the role of treasure hunter Nathan Drake.

Based on Robert Knuckle’s best-selling book The Flying Bandit, the film will tell the true story of Gilbert Galvan Jr., an American prison escapee who crossed the border into Canada where embarked on a spree of bank robberies and jewelry heists. Galvan came to be known as the Flying Bandit, due to his penchant for flying around the country first class, robbing as many as three banks in the same day.

“Bandit is an action-packed and amazing untold account of one of the most daring and charismatic criminals in modern history,” said director Ungar, with executive producer Arianne Fraser of Highland Film Group adding: “Bandit is both appealing to those who crave classic heist thriller stories but also to those who did not know yet that they could love the genre. It is a class act.”

Duhamel was last seen in last years Netflix romance The Lost Husband alongside Leslie Bibb, while next film The Buddy Games is set for release later this month and sees him making his directorial debut as well as starring.
