Marvel’s Hawkeye series to begin shooting this week

November 28, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having wrapped production on WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier after coming out of lockdown, Marvel TV Studios has now shifted its attention to its second wave of Disney+ shows.

We learned earlier this month that Ms. Marvel has commenced filming in Atlanta, Georgia [see the first set photos of Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan here], and now its about to be joined by the Jeremy Renner-led Hawkeye solo series.

Renner has been posting images to social media recently suggesting that he’s in pre-production for his return as Clint Barton, and now production notices for ‘Anchor Point’ (Hawkeye’s working title) have gone up in Brooklyn which indicate the filming is set to commence this coming week.

Hawkeye was originally planned to be part of Marvel’s first wave of Disney+ shows alongside The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki, but was pushed back from its scheduled 2021 release date into 2022.

The series will see Renner’s Clint Barton joined by his comic book protégé – and Hawkeye successor – Kate Bishop, a role which was reportedly offered to Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee) back in September of last year, although the casting was never confirmed. Hopefully, with filming about to get underway, we’ll get some official news very soon.

Along with the Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye TV series, Marvel is also currently in production on Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the Oscar Isaac-led Moon Knight series is due to begin filming early in the New Year.
