The Silence of the Lambs sequel series Clarice adds Marnee Carpenter and others

November 11, 2020 by Ricky Church

Deadline has reported CBS’ upcoming Clarice, a sequel series to The Silence of the Lambs that follows Clarice Starling in her early days as an FBI agent, has added several more people to its cast including Marnee Carpenter (Criminal Minds) as a series regular.

Carpenter will play Catherine Martin, the young woman who was abducted by the serial killer Buffalo Bill and was saved by Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs. Brooke Smith played Catherine in the film.

Also starring in the series is Jayne Atkinson (House of Cards), Shawn Doyle (The Expanse) and Tim Guinee (Homeland) in recurring and guest roles.

Atkinson will play Ruth Martin, Catherine’s mother and former senator who is now the new US attorney general. Doyle will play Clarice’s therapist at FBI headquarters in Quantico and Guinee will be the leader of a secessionist militia. They join Rebecca Breeds as Clarice Starling, Lucca De Oliveira (SEAL Team) and Devyn A. Tyler (Out of Blue).

CLARICE, from acclaimed executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, and starring Rebecca Breeds (“Pretty Little Liars”) in the title role, is a deep dive into the untold personal story of brilliant and vulnerable FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field in 1993, six months after the events of “The Silence of the Lambs.” Kal Penn, Nick Sandow, Michael Cudlitz, Lucca De Oliveira and Devyn A. Tyler also star. Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet and Heather Kadin are executive producers for MGM Television and CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout. Aaron Baiers is a co-executive producer.
