Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker teases Death to 2020 mockumentary

December 6, 2020 by Ricky Church

It goes without saying this year has been pretty bad considering everything that has happened, from various forest fires and celebrity deaths to the ongoing pandemic which has forced the closure of many businesses and caused industries to rapidly change. It often feels like we could be living in an episode of Black Mirror, a fact series creator Charlie Brooker has used to create the mockumentary Death to 2020. Brooker revealed the title along with a tease for the project from Netflix.

Not much is known about the mockumentary, but Brooker’s teaser promises though even they couldn’t think up the number of events that have occurred throughout the year, “they do have something to add” with their project that, if anything like the typical Black Mirror episodes, is sure to have some type of unforeseen and dark twist.

Death to 2020 will also star Hugh Grant (The Undoing), who revealed the news earlier this week. When asked what project he’s doing next, Grant said “Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”
