Brandon Routh joins The Rookie season 3

December 4, 2020 by Ricky Church

Brandon Routh (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) has joined the third season of ABC’s The Rookie in a recurring role.

Routh will play Doug Stanton, “an eleven-year veteran of the LAPD, whose views prove to be polarizing at the Mid-Wilshire station” and will be introduced in the second episode for a potential season-long story. According to Deadline, he is currently scheduled to appear in four episodes.

The Rookie was created by Alexi Hawley and stars Nathan Fillion (Firefly) as John Nolan, the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department.

Routh recently came off The CW’s Arrowverse series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as inventor and superhero Ray Palmer/The Atom. He originated the character in Arrow before moving onto Legends of Tomorrow, where he was one of the main stars for five of its seasons before departing in the middle of the fifth.

He also reprised his Superman Returns role as Superman/Clark Kent for the Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, a role he expressed interest returning to once again in The Flash feature film that will deal with alternate characters from different universes as Michael Keaton will reprise his Batman role in the film.
