Hiroyuki Sanada joins the cast of David Leitch’s action thriller Bullet Train

December 2, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Shortly after the announcement that Oscar winner Lady Gaga and Logan Lerman will be joining the cast, Deadline is reporting that Hiroyuki Sanada (Army of the Dead, Westworld) is set to star in the upcoming David Leitch-directed action thriller Bullet Train.

Bullet Train – which is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka – will be directed by Leitch who will also be supervising the script written by Zak Olkewicz. The book follows five assassins who all find themselves on the same train from Tokyo to Morioka. The English translation of Isaka’s novel will be released next year, however, it is unclear how much of the source material the movie adaptation will be translating to the big screen.

Hiroyuki Sanada will be joining the already announced cast that includes Brad Pitt, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Michael Shannon, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Brian Tyree Henry, Lady Gaga and Logan Lerman.

Leitch, whose credits include Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, John Wick, and Hobbs and Shaw, will produce the project with Kelly McCormick through their company 87North, along with Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick. Brittany Morrissey is the executive overseeing the project for Sony Pictures.
