Marvel’s Kevin Feige says his Star Wars movie isn’t anywhere near being talked about yet

January 13, 2021 by Samuel Brace

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who is set to produce his own Star Wars movie, says that film isn’t anywhere near being talked about yet.

Lucasfilm has put the emphasis on TV recently when it comes to Star Wars with a whole slate of Disney+ shows announced. There are movies coming, however, with Rogue Squadron lined up for December 2023. There is also Taika Waititi’s film to look forward to.

But what about the previously announced Kevin Feige Star Wars movie? Apart from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screenwriter Michael Waldron being announced, we don’t know anything about it. Well, there is a reason for that as Feige has told Screen Rant that they are nowhere near being ready to say anything. When talking about juggling Star Wars and Marvel, he said:

“It’s all stuff I love, and everything regarding Star Wars is not anywhere near talking about. So, it is Marvel. But if I wasn’t being paid to do it, I would be doing it here in my basement just with my toys, and nobody would ever see it. It’s what I think about all the time.”

Feige clearly has a love of Star Wars but it’s clear we won’t be hearing anything anytime soon. But what about a potential date for the movie? Again, Feige told Variety that even though Waldron is on board, Marvel is his focus right now:

“We’re thinking that we’re not — that is, um — everything you’ve heard about [Michael Waldron] has been been leaked. It’s not stuff that we’ve officially announced or gotten into. So, suffice to say, the focus is on all the number of Marvel things we’re working on. The what, where, when and how of that [Star Wars movie], I don’t know. I’m excited for The Book of Boba Fett, and the Rogue One show, and the Obi-Wan show, and Patty’s movie, and Taika’s movie. [Smiles] After Thor: Love and Thunder, of course.”

At least we have plenty of Star Wars projects to look forward to over the coming months and years. We will just have to be patient to learn some concrete details about this particular movie.
