Richard Lewis will not appear in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 11

January 28, 2021 by Samuel Brace

Richard Lewis, a long time star of Curb Your Enthusiasm, will not appear in season 11 alongside Larry David.

Since Curb Your Enthusiasm began back in 2000, comedian Richard Lewis has been a regular presence in the show, appearing in 39 episodes. Just like in real life, Lewis is an old friend of Larry David in the series in which David plays a semi-autobiographical version of himself.

The series has been renewed for an 11th season on HBO but this time Lewis won’t be apart of the action. Lewis revealed the news on his Twitter this week, posting: “What a ride, LD! I love you, buddy.Tragically, these past 18 months I’ve endured a back and two shoulder surgeries and not able to be in #curbyourenthusiasm for season 11. I’ll be watching…⁦@HBO”

It’s certainly a shame that his health is keeping him out of the classic comedy series but in a follow-up interview with Variety, Lewis said he plans on being in season 12: “For 20 years, I had the greatest comedy gig I could have ever imagined with my oldest and dearest friend LD. Honestly, I’m crushed that I won’t be part of this season. For sure, I will be screaming with all the other ‘Curb’ fans when the new season starts. Hope to be there for Season 12!”

Fans will certainly miss his presence in season 11. It will be interesting to see if his absence is brought up by Larry during the course of whatever awkward events he gets himself mixed up in this time.

Curb Your Enthusiasm originally aired for eight seasons between 2000 and 2011, before being revived by HBO for a ninth season in 2017. The most recent tenth season premiered back in January of 2020.
