WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn would love to return as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2

January 27, 2021 by Liam Waddington

With the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2018 Oscar and Golden Globe-winning animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, currently in production at Sony, one of the stars of the first film would be interested in reprising her role.

In an interview with Collider, WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn, who played Olivia Octavius/Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, stated that while she hasn’t heard anything, she would be love to return.

“Not that I’ve heard, but I would love to. But not that I’ve heard. Who knows? [The first one] is amazing. I’m so proud of that thing.”

Hahn isn’t the only person who has stated their interest in returning for the sequel as Jake Johnson, who portrayed Peter B. Parker, has previously said that he would also love to make a return.

“I would really hope so. I really loved playing Peter B. Parker,” said Johnson. “I literally recorded that movie for; I think it was over two years. People don’t realize, most of with animation, you do two or three records, and it’s over. I lived with that character before anyone knew it was happening for so long. I loved the material. I got to record with Shameik Moore a lot who played Miles, and we got to bounce off each other. Shameik and I became buddies, and we’re still texting and in touch.”

Although very little is known regarding the plot of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, besides Sony CEO Amy Pascal stating that the sequel will highlight Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy’s romance in between two universes, producer Christopher Miller has teased that the follow-up film will be using “new groundbreaking art techniques.”

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is being directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra), while Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will once again produce alongside Avi Arad and Amy Pascal.
