Zack Snyder has shot two additional Justice League scenes including Jared Leto’s Joker cameo

January 6, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Jared Leto may have kept quiet recently when asked about his involvement with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but the filmmaker has now confirmed that Leto will indeed be reprising the role of The Joker in the HBO Max release and that his scene was one of two that Snyder shot during the recent round of additional photography.

“A very small portion of the movie is the new stuff that I shot,” Snyder tells Comic Book Debate. “Like 80-something percent of the movie has never been seen by anyone, visual effects wise, and that’s not even including the scenes that you guys have never seen that don’t have visual effects. That part’s really exciting, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience this giant scale adventure the way I intended.”

“There’s like two bits that I added,” he continued. “One bit that I had really sort of hoped to shoot in post but never got the chance to, and then one scene with Jared. This whole little piece with Jared. The truth is, the rest of the four hours of the movie are really just what I shot. The truth is I was in a struggle with the studio, you know, and famously we had a lot of stuff we had to do, and make it funny, and all that stuff. I just kind of, in a slightly subversive way, just kept also doing my thing at the same time so I would have, what I believed would be closer to what I wanted to do without any influence.”

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and features Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Robin Wright as General Antiope, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, Jared Leto as The Joker and Ray Porter as Darkseid.
