Many of the world’s religions have a sprawling mythos associated with them. Combine that with the general human morality conflict of good vs. evil and you have some fascinating theories and storylines about the way the metaphysical world works.

Well, a lot of auteurs in the filmmaking field who grew up in religious households have drawn on their childhood experiences to convey genuine terror to audiences. Iconography and lore blend together to produce such pop culture staples as The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby.
