Better Call Saul begins production on final season

March 13, 2021 by Ricky Church

It has been a long wait made even longer thanks to the health crisis, but it is the beginning of the end as Better Call Saul has begun production on the sixth and final season of AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel.

Series co-creator and showrunner Peter Gould revealed the news through Twitter, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo to mark the occasion. The sixth season premiere will be directed by Michael Morris with Marshall Adams as the director of photography. Morris has previously directed Better Call Saul episodes in the fourth and fifth seasons while Adams shot the fifth season episode ‘Bagman’ for which he is nominated for a American Society of Cinema Award.

Better Call Saul is a breaking to AMC’s hit series Breaking Bad which follows Bob Edenkirk’s Jimmy McGill as he slowly creates and transforms into Saul Goodman. Starrling alongside Odenkirk is Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Michael McKean as Chuck McGill Jr,, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin, Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, Michael Mando as Nacho Vargo and Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring.

While Better Call Saul has featured several characters from Breaking Bad, there are no plans to have Walter White and Jesse Pinkman cameo in the final season. Fans can, however, watch El Camino, which is an epilogue focusing Jesse on the run moments after the ending of Breaking Bad.
