It Chapter Two star James Ransone reuniting with director Scott Derrickson on Blumhouse’s The Black Phone

March 22, 2021 by Liam Waddington

The upcoming Blumhouse and Universal project The Black Phone, an adaptation of the horror short story by Joe Hill from director Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange), has added another member to its cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, IT Chapter Two star James Ransone will be reuniting with Derrickson for the upcoming horror film after appearing in both Sinister and Sinister 2. Ransone’s character details are currently being kept under wraps but we do know his name will be Max.

Ransone will not be the only actor reuniting with the director for The Black Phone as Ethan Hawke, who featured in the first Sinister instalment, is set to star in the film as the kidnapper, which also has Mason Thames (For All Mankind), Madeleine McGraw (Toy Story 4) and Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan) on board.

The Black Phone follows a “kidnapped kid who finds himself in a soundproof basement surrounded by the remains of other victims. When night falls, the antique — and disconnected — telephone in the room begins to ring with the calls from the dead.”
