Schitt’s Creek actress Emily Hampshire joins Amazon series The Rig

Deadline has revealed that Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek) has been cast in the Amazon UK thriller series The Rig, which is being directed by John Strickland (Line of Duty) and will film in Scotland.

The Rig will follow the people working on the “Kishorn Bravo oil rig, stationed off the Scottish coast in the dangerous waters of the North Sea. When the crew is due to return to the mainland, a mysterious and all-enveloping fog rolls through and they find themselves cut off from all communication with the shore and the outside world. As the rig is hit by massive tremors, the crew endeavor to discover what’s driving the unknown force. But a major accident forces them to ask questions about who they can really trust.”

Hampshire will star in one of the lead roles as Rose Mason, “the scientist and oil company rep, a fresh face on-board the rig.” She will star alongside Line of Duty star Martin Compston and Mark Bonnar (Catastrophe).

The Rig will run for six episodes and was created by David Macpherson with Wild Mercury Productions producing.
