Gabriel Luna to play Pedro Pascal’s brother in The Last of Us series

April 16, 2021 by EJ Moreno

A dream team has been formed for HBO’s The Last of Us series. Gabriel Luna will play opposite Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the upcoming series from Chernobyl creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is an adaptation of the award-winning and best-selling Playstation video game.

Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) stars as Tommy, Joel’s (Pascal) younger brother. The character is a former soldier who still holds on to idealism in a post-apocalyptic world. He still hopes for a better world, which will play against Joel’s more tough exterior.

The Last of Us is “set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed and centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

The video game series won multiple Game of the Year awards and sold more than 17 million copies since its 2013 release.
