Subnautica: Below Zero hits PC and consoles

May 15, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Unknown Worlds Entertainment has today released a new chapter in the Subnautica universe with Subnautica: Below Zero.  This all-new adventure sees players return to planet 4546B two years after the events of the original game.  A new expedition needs a new launch trailer and you can see this below….

Subnautica: Below Zero takes players on a sub-zero expedition to the arctic region of Planet 4546B where they will need to investigate the disappearance of the character’s sister, Alterra.  Whatever happened to the character’s sister and the scientists is a mystery but there are clues to discover in the form of databanks, logs and items scattered around the debris of abandoned research stations.  There’s also more to discover about the alien life that visited the planet before.

Players will be able to build extensive habitats that can be filled with storage containers, research equipment and more.  There are also new vehicles to be constructed, including the Snowfox Hoverbike and the modular Seatruck.  However, before all these can be built there will need to be some serious resource gathering.

The new arctic region of the planet is a harsh environment with uncharted biomes.  Players will be able to swim under the Twisty Bridges, see the mammoth crystals of the Crystal Caverns, visit the caves of the Glacial Basin and more, but remember that the temperature poses a new threat.  There’s also new life to discover such as the giant Titan Holefish, the Shadow Leviathan and the adorable Pengwings.

Discover what happened to your sister and who these aliens were in Subnautica: Below Zero, out now on PC and consoles.
