Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin to return for Greenland sequel

June 14, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

In a move as surprising as the success and genuine quality of the first film, Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin have signed on to reprise their roles of John and Allison Garrity in a sequel to end-of-the-world drama Greenland.

According to Variety, Ric Roman Waugh will return to direct Greenland: Migration from a script written by Chris Sparling, who’s also resuming duties from the first Greenland, and that the sequel will be a continuation of the story which found the Garrity family riding out the end-of-the-world in a huge underground bunker. The plot will see them forced to leave their shelter and embark on a perilous journey across frozen wasteland in order to find a new home.

Greenland was a one of the pandemic era’s real success stories, earning decent money in the limited territories in which it was released, and proving to be a huge hit with audiences when it rolled out on VOD and streaming services.
