Leslie Odom Jr. excited to work with the Knives Out 2 ensemble cast

June 17, 2021 by Ricky Church

As director Rian Johnson is getting ready to shoot Knives Out 2 in Greece, Leslie Odom Jr. has expressed his excitement for working on the film and with the massively talented ensemble cast that has been put together for the follow up.

In the Knives Out sequel, Odom will be onscreen with names like Daniel Craig, Dave Bautista and Edward Norton, but he has already worked with some members of the ensemble cast before like Janelle Monoa in Harriet and Kate Hudson in Music earlier this year. However, as he told Entertainment Weekly, the one cast member he’s excited to work with the most is his Central Park co-star Katheryn Hahn. Odom and Hahn play a married couple in the animated series, but since it is animation they have never actually worked on set together and only met in person once their voiceover work for the season concluded and were doing press interviews.

“Kathryn and I are going to get to work as human people together, which is nice. We play husband and wife on Central Park, but we’ll actually get to play some live-action things together. We only met after having recorded the whole first season. We met on a flight in between season 1 and season 2. We’ve done some press together on Zoom. I saw her recently at the Billboard Music Awards, but the most shared space we’ve had together will be on the set of Knives Out 2, strangely enough, even though we play husband and wife.”

He also spoke about his excitement to work with some of the film’s other big names as well as reunite with Monoa and Hudson. “It’s a return to work for me with me and Janelle and Kate and I have worked together before. Dave Bautista, I’m a huge fan of. Ed Norton, I’m excited to work with. I’m just a huge fan of that guy’s process. He’s just turned in some of my favorite performances over the years. He’s a real acting savant. And then obviously, Daniel, who’s a legend. I’m going to try not to make fool of myself. I’m going to show up and take notes, and learn all I can.”

Odom Jr. is most known for his role in the Broadway hit Hamilton. Other projects he has starred in are Person of Interest, Murder on the Orient Express and One Night in Miami, the latter he was recently nominated an Academy Award for.

Knives Out 2 stars Daniel Craig, who is reprising his Knives Out role as Benoit Blanc, as well as newcomers Dave Bautista (Army of the Dead), Edward Norton (Motherless Brooklyn), Janelle Monáe (Hidden Figures), Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks) and Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist).

While plot and characters details are currently being kept under wraps, we do know that filming is set to begin this summer in Greece after Netflix recently won the rights for two sequels to 2019’s Knives Out. The sequel will once again be written and directed by Johnson.
