Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian special will explore the return of Luke Skywalker

July 17, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

While December’s special hour-long episode of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian took fans through the making of the second season of the live-action Star Wars series, it unfortunately stopped short of the season two finale and the huge surprise cameo from the fully-fledged Jedi Master version of Luke Skywalker many fans had been clamouring to see since 1983.

However, we now have some very good news, as Disney has announced a new extra special episode of Disney Gallery entitled Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian – Making of the Season 2 Finale, which will delve into the creation of the epic sequence and the cutting-edge visual effects technology used to digitally recreate the post-Return of the Jedi era Luke. Here’s the official synopsis:

“Making of the Season 2 Finale” is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this celebrated “chapter” of “The Mandalorian,” with a focus on the technology used for recreating Luke Skywalker. It delves into the collaborative process, including working with Mark Hamill, to create an authentic and fitting recreation, and explores the immense pressure and responsibility the filmmakers had in bringing back one of the most important characters in film history.
