Karen Gillan calls Thor: Love and Thunder “bonkers”

July 1, 2021 by EJ Moreno

How can Taika Waititi top his last entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, one of the film’s stars has described Thor: Love and Thunder as one of the wildest movies yet.

When speaking with Collider, Karen Gillan opened up about working on the latest Marvel entry. This film will mark Nebula’s fourth appearance in the MCU and first time in a Thor film. With all that, she calls this film “bonkers” but says it feels like part of the character’s journey.

“Taika really brought out the bonkers side. I think everyone is just really, really funny and bonkers and wild…I don’t know if it’s personal [levity].” Gillian continues, “Like I don’t think [Nebula’s] finding herself funny or being funny, but in her seriousness, I think we will find her funny, and just the pure aggression that we’ve tapped into.”

While we all expected the humor in Thor: Love and Thunder, it’s quite interesting to hear that Nebula will get a bit more aggressive in this outing. Can we see Nebula step it up in this film like we haven’t before? Only time will tell, but this new Thor movie’s cast and crew have certainly done a lot to build up hype for this entry.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Russell Crowe (Unhinged) as Zeus and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
