Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement are developing a new action-adventure comedy series

July 1, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, the duo behind the beloved 2014 film and the FX TV series What We Do in the Shadows as well as the sitcom series Flight of the Conchords, are set to re-team once again for a brand-new series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Clement revealed that he and Taika are currently working on a new action-adventure comedy series which he claimed will be different from his usual productions.

“Taika and I are working on a new series right now which we just started writing. I can’t tell you much about it yet, but what’s fun about it and what makes it exciting for me is it’s something I always wanted to do, which is long-form episodes in a sitcom. It’s an action-adventure comedy. It’ll be different from what I’ve usually done. I’ve made three sitcoms now, and I hope this one is still funny but more of an adventure series.”

In addition to this new series in the works, the duo is also hard at work on other projects with Clement working on the third season of What We Do in the Shadows and is also set to star in James Cameron’s Avatar sequel. Waititi, who recently wrapped filming on Thor: Love and Thunder, is producing FX’s Reservation Dogs, is set to star as Blackbeard in HBO’s Our Flag Means Death, and is scheduled to direct a currently untitled Star Wars movie.
