Luis Guzman to play Gomez in Tim Burton’s Addams Family series Wednesday

August 9, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Netflix found its Gomez for the upcoming Addams Family spinoff Wednesday, with Variety reporting that veteran actor Luis Guzman is set to follow in the footsteps of the likes of John Astin, Raul Julia, Tim Curry and Oscar Isaac by taking on the patriarch of the kooky Addams clan.

The Netflix series has been created by Al Gough and Miles Milllar (Smallville), with Tim Burton directing and executive producing, and will centre on the character of Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Yes Day).

Guzman’s Gomez will feature in a guest starring role in the series, which is described as “a supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
