Marvel reportedly developing Werewolf By Night Halloween special for Disney+

August 31, 2021 by Gary Collinson

It seems the Guardians of the Galaxy may not be the only Marvel property to receive its own Holiday Special on Disney+, as The Wrap is reporting that Marvel Studios is currently looking to cast a Latino actor for a Halloween Special which may feature the character Werewolf By Night.

In Marvel’s comic book continuity, two characters have gone by the name Werewolf By Night: Jack Russell, a descendant of the mystically-altered offshoot of humans known as Lycanthropes; and Jake Gomez, a member of the Hopi Native American tribe whose family has been cursed with lycanthropy. The latter was introduced last year, and it is unclear whether Marvel plans to adapt a specific version of the character, or blend the two.

It’s previously been rumoured that Werewolf By Night could make an appearance in Marvel’s Moon Knight series starring Oscar Isaac, which is currently in production. That remains unconfirmed, but would make some sense given that the character of Moon Knight actually made his comic book debut in the pages of Werewolf By Night #32.

According to The Wrap’s sources, Marvel is looking to shoot the special in early 2022, presumably for a Halloween 2022 premiere on Disney+.
