Morbius director might have spoiled a HUGE cameo

August 12, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Morbius has been subject to reshoots and pandemic related delays since its original July 2020 release date was missed, so it’s understandable that director Daniel Espinosa might let something slip during the eternal wait for his Sony Pictures’ Marvel movie to see the light of day, but not something as potentially huge as the spoiler dropped in a recent interview with a Swedish outlet. SPOILER WARNING! Continue reading at your own risk…

It was while speaking to Swedish publication Moviezine about the shooting experience on Morbius that Espinosa said (translated by The Direct) “It usually feels strange before the day begins, when you look at the schedule and stand on the set yourself. When you walk around there, the recording looks just like a Swedish production, but then when you look at the schedule and read names like Michael Keaton, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, then it feels cool and very exciting.”

We already knew that Michael Keaton would be reprising his role of The Vulture from 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming because he was seen in the trailer, but the reveal that Tom Hardy might make an appearance in a Venom crossover is quite the slip of the tongue. Weight can be added to the story thanks to the fact that Hardy has recently been talking about the crossover potential in the Sony Spider-Man universe.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

Morbius is set for release on January 21st 2022, and sees Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) directing a cast that includes Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) as Dr. Michael Morbius, Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) as Martine Bancroft, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Loxias Crown, Jared Harris (The Terror) as Morbius’ mentor, and Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious) as an FBI agent.
