Brendan Fraser cast as Firefly in HBO Max’s Batgirl movie

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Brendan Fraser is heading to Gotham City as the beloved actor has been cast as the pyromaniac Firefly in the upcoming Batgirl movie for HBO Max.

Fraser will star alongside Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life) whose role is currently being kept under wraps as well as In The Heights‘ Leslie Grace, who dons the cape and cowl as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. It has also been confirmed that J.K. Simmons is set to reprise his role from Zack Snyder’s Justice League as Barbara’s father Commissioner Jim Gordon.

The upcoming Batgirl movie is set to be directed by Bad Bays for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a script by Birds of Prey, The Flash and Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson with Kristin Burr producing. As yet, there’s no word on a production start but the film is slated to premiere on HBO Max in 2022.
