Dwayne Johnson gives update on Black Adam cut, says he’s “very happy, yet not satisfied”

November 12, 2021 by Gary Collinson

After unveiling a first-look teaser for the movie back at DC FanDome last month, Black Adam star and producer Dwayne Johnson has now given fans an update on post-production on next year’s DCEU outing, stating that he’s “very happy, yet not satisfied” with the way the film is coming together.

“I think we’re in a really good place,” Johnson told Collider. “I think now’s the time…we take our time, yet there has to be some expediency to it because we do have to have the movie ready by next summer I think [director Jaume Collet-Serra] delivered a great first cut. Black Adam is the kind of movie that, from the beginning, it had the makings and the bones to be something unique.”

“At this point of the cut, there’s a clear and defining anchor to Black Adam’s code, and I think that’s really important as we look to build out the character, as we look to build out the franchise, as we also look to build out the JSA [Justice Society of America] and introduce them and launch them properly as well. I am happy, yet not satisfied, and we will continue to put the work in, and the teaser that we showed about three weeks ago, it was a good indicator of what’s to come.”

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) and sees Dwayne Johnson starring alongside Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz and Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui and Uli Latukefu in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Black Adam is set for release on July 29th, 2022.
