The Crown casts Dominic West’s son Senan West as Prince William

November 17, 2021 by Ricky Church

The upcoming fifth season of The Crown has just cast one of the Royal princes. Per Variety, Senan West, son of actor Dominic West, will portray a young Prince William in his debut role for the fifth season of the hit Netflix series.

It has turned into something of a family project as Dominic West is portraying Prince Charles, the father of Prince William. He takes over the role from Josh O’Connor, who played Charles in the third and fourth seasons of the series. Senan West will appear as Prince William in the final episodes of the fifth season as “he begins to mature into a young man.”

Prince William was 15 at the time of Princess Diana’s death in 1997. While it has not exactly been said which events the Royal Family experienced during the 1990s will be covered in the new season, it is likely the death of Diana will be explored in some fashion as young West takes on an older Prince William.

The Crown Season 5 will star Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Jonny Lee Miller as British Prime Minister John Major and Khalid Abdalla as Al Fayed.

Season five of The Crown is set to cover the early 1990s, a turbulent period for the British Monarchy which saw three of the Queen’s children separating, a fire at Windsor Castle, the scandal surrounding Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Princess Diana’s controversial BBC interview with Martin Bashir.

The Crown season 5 is scheduled to air on Netflix in 2022.
