Spider-Man: No Way Home fight scenes are “very violent”, says Tom Holland

December 3, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Tom Holland has teased that the fight scenes in Spider-Man: No Way Home will be more violent than previous Spider-Man instalments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“There are some fight scenes in this movie that are very violent. And it’s a fighting style different from what we’ve seen before. But really you will get to see Spider-Man using his fists in a ‘fight or flight’ situation,” Holland said in an interview with TV Globo.

From what we’ve seen from the film so far in TV spots and trailers, there seems to be plenty of opportunities for fight sequences given that five different Spider-Man villains have been confirmed for the third film so far including Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Lizard, Sandman and Electro.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) directing Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan), Angourie Rice (Betty Brandt), Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Jason Ionello), Benedict Wong (Wong), J.K. Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson), Martin Star (Mr. Harrington), J.B. Smoove (Mr. Dell), Hannibal Buress (Coach Wilson), Jamie Foxx (Electro), Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), Rhys Ifans (Lizard), Thomas Haden Church (Sandman), and Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin).

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set for release on December 15th in the UK and December 17th in North America.
