Lucasfilm teams with Skydance and Amy Henning for new Star Wars video game

April 21, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Having previously seen her first attempt fall apart when EA shut down Visceral Games back in 2017, Uncharted co-creator Amy Henning is getting a second crack at the galaxy far, far away with Lucasfilm announcing that it is teaming with Skydance New Media for a new cinematic action adventure video game featuring an original story in the Star Wars universe.

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” said Hennig, who is President of Skydance New Media. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a uniqueStar Warsadventure,” said Douglas Reilly, Vice President, Lucasfilm Games. “Their vision for making inviting, cinematic interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”

The new ann0uncement marks the second project for the recently formed Skydance studio, which announced another Disney-related partnership last year with Marvel Entertainment for “a narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe.”
