Pig director Michael Sarnoski to adapt graphic novel Sabrina

Deadline is reporting that director Michael Sarnoski is set to follow last year’s acclaimed Nicolas Cage film Pig with an adaptation of the graphic novel Sabrina.

No, it’s not another take on Archie Comics’ Teenage Witch, but rather a feature film adaptation of the graphic novel from creator Nick Drnaso, which became the first graphic novel to be long-listed for the Man Booker Prize upon its release back in 2018.

Sabrina follows “follows a grieving man whose girlfriend goes missing and who goes to live with his old friend – an Air Force surveillance expert agent who is dealing with a failed marriage. After a grisly videotape is sent anonymously to news outlets, Sabrina’s disappearance goes viral. As the 24-hour news cycle and social media take hold of the story, the two men are targeted by vitriolic conspiracy theorists that threaten their sense of the truth and their faith in each other.”

Sarnoski announced himself to Hollywood with Pig, his feature directorial debut, and he is currently in pre-production on a spinoff to A Quiet Place, having been handpicked to continue the horror series by John Krasinski and Paramount.
