Shogun Films action thriller Renegades secures distribution at Cannes

May 21, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Regular readers here at FM may be aware that our writer Tom Jolliffe also moonlights as a wildly prolific screenwriter, and his latest project – the star-studded action-thriller Renegades – has just secured a raft of distribution sales at Cannes, including Saban Films which has secured North American rights.

Helmed by veteran action director Daniel Zirilli (Hollow Point, The Asian Connection) and produced by Jonathan Sothcott of Shogun Films, Renegades follows the old special forces comrades of a veteran Green Beret, who band together to seek revenge and dispense justice after he’s murdered in cold blood by a ruthless London drugs gang.

Renegades features a cast that includes Nick Moran (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Lee Majors (The Fall Guy) and Danny Trejo (Machete) along with Ian Ogilvy (We Still Kill The Old Way), Louis Mandylor (Debt Collectors), Billy Murray (Rise of the Footsoldier), Patsy Kensit (Lethal Weapon 2), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Nemesis), Michael Brandon (Dempsey & Makepeace), Paul Barber (The Long Good Friday), Michael Paré (Streets of Fire) and, in one of his final roles, Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister (No Holds Barred).

“Renegades delivers on every level for audiences, with a wonderful cast of beloved veteran actors, high octane action sequences and a clever, witty script that elevates it above the standard ‘bang bang’ fare,” said producer Jonathan Sothcott. “We believe we have an instant cult movie and are already developing a sequel.”

Stay tuned for more info on Renegades, and be sure to check out the trailer for another of Tom’s upcoming films When Darkness Falls, along with his archive of articles here on Flickering Myth.
