Stephanie Beatriz joins Twisted Metal TV series

May 14, 2022 by Liam Waddington

Peacock has announced that Stephanie Beatriz, who is perhaps best known for her role as Detective Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has joined the upcoming television adaptation of the PlayStation video game series Twisted Metal.

Beatriz will play Quiet, “a ferocious, badass car thief who acts purely on instinct.” Driven by her wish to find a place in his dark, chaotic world and her need for revenge, Quiet will form an unlikely, antagonist bond with John Doe – who is set to be portrayed by the previously announced Anthony Mackie.

Twisted Metal has been described as a half-hour action-comedy series that will see Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) play John Doe, “a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”

The series, which is set to premiere on Peacock, is based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) with Michael Jonathan Smith serving as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) will serve as director for “multiple episodes” and executive producer of the series. Both Reese and Wernick will also executive produce along with Mackie, Will Arnett and Marc Forman via Electric Avenue. Sony Pictures Television, Playstation Productions, and Universal Television will produce the series.
