The Lord of the Rings: Gollum gets new trailer and September release

May 25, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Daedalic Entertainment and NACON have announced that they will be releasing the highly anticipated adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum on Xbox One, Series X/S, Playstation 4 & 5 and PC on 1st September with a Nintendo Switch version planned for later on.  This story-driven stealth adventure is based on one of the most iconic characters in the The Lord of the Rings and is Daedalic’s own take on this legendary creature.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is an epic story telling of the adventure of Frodo Baggins as he journeys through Middle-earth to get rid of the One Ring (Gollum’s Precious), which was taken by Bilbo Baggins in the Misty Mountains during The Hobbit.  What this epic story doesn’t tell the reader is what happened to Gollum, previously known as his hobbit name Smeagol, after he left the Misty Mountains to reclaim his precious. This is where The Lord of the Rings: Gollum helps fill in the gaps.

In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Gollum will leave the relative safety of the Misty Mountains on a perilous journey through the dungeons of Barad-dûr, Mirkwood and other iconic locations to find his precious.  Players will have to use all of Gollum’s sneaking skills and cunning to get past danger and survive the hazards in Middle-earth. They will also have to handle the internal struggle that Gollum has with his Hobbit-self – Sméagol and will be able to choose which personality takes over when it comes to important decisions.

As well as iconic locations from the book, players may also meet some well-known characters as well as plenty of new ones.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will arrive on 1st September on PC and consoles.
