Zack Snyder returns to DC… for Teen Titans Go! guest appearance

July 24, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Okay, so it’s not quite the rumoured #RestoreTheSnyderverse announcement that many of the filmmaker’s fans had been anticipating in the build up to the convention on social media, but the San Diego Comic-Con International did serve up one piece of news yesterday concerning a DC return for Zack Snyder…

As revealed during Saturday’s Cartoon Network Comic-Con panel, the Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League helmer is set to reunite with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, not for Justice League Part Two, but rather a guest appearance in the animated comedy series Teen Titans Go!.

Snyder will appear in the 365th episode of the Cartoon Network series, appropriately titled “365!, which will see Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire and Cyborg heading to the Warner Bros. studio lot to enlist a director to help them celebrate the milestone. The episode will air in the fall.

Despite rumours about Snyderverse announcements and/or Henry Cavill’s Superman return proving to be nothing but hot air (and outright dismissed by DC’s Jim Lee, in the case of the former), yesterday’s DC Films panel at Comic-Con did serve up a couple of treats for fans, including a first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods and a fresh look at Black Adam.

Hard news was thin on the ground however, which means Warner’s DC movie slate beyond 2023 remains uncertain with only five movies specifically dated between now and then in Black Adam, Shazam!, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash and Blue Beetle. With Marvel laying out its own Phase Five and Phase Six plans later in the day, we can only hope for a DC FanDome 2022 announcement soon.

Who knows – maybe the new Warner Discovery execs just need a little longer to cross the t’s and dot the i’s with Zack seeing as he’s tied up with Rebel Moon right now…
