Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie finds its writers

September 23, 2022 by Gary Collinson

During this month’s Disney D23 Expo, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed the reports that WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman will be bringing Marvel’s First Family to the MCU as director of the Fantastic Four movie, and now Deadline has revealed that up-and-coming writing duo Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer are penning the script.

Kaplan and Springer’s past credits include 2013’s Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship and 2014’s The Last of the Great Romantics, although the pair have found themselves in demand in recent times with several high profile spec script sales including Warner Bros.’ upcoming comedy Disaster Wedding.

According to Deadline’s report, the pair have already been working on Fantastic Four for some time prior to Shakman’s appointment as director and have been working with Kevin Feige to work out how the F4 will fit into the MCU heading into 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Fantastic Four is set to launch Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on November 8th 2024. As yet, there’s been no word on potential castings, which would seem to suggest that John Krasinski may not be the Reed Richards of Earth-616 following his Earth-838 cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
