Fede Alvarez’s Alien film will start production in February

December 24, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Fede Alvarez’s Alien is soon approaching, and the production finally has a start date.

A new report claims that the new film will begin shooting on February 6, 2023, in Budapest, Hungary. The news comes from a recent posting on ProductionList.com, which says the movie is shooting under the working title Alien: Romulus.

Alien: Romulus comes from writer and director Fede Alvarez, best known for his work on 2013’s Evil Dead. The newest Alien installment is produced by Ridley Scott and 20th Century Studios, with the project described as “an original standalone feature.”

Cailee Spaeny will lead the cast of Alien: Romulus. Spaeney was last seen in The Craft: Legacy and Pacific Rim Uprising, and she’ll be seen next in Priscilla, where she’ll star as Priscilla Presley.

Fede Alvarez is best known for Evil Dead, the fan-favorite 2013 remake. He’s also helmed Don’t Breathe and The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

The Alvarez Alien movie should not be confused with another Xenomorph-filled project coming to FX. The planned Alien television series will come from Fargo and Legion filmmaker Noah Hawley and is a prequel that “takes place before Ripley”.

There’s an abundance of Alien content coming our way, and it will be interesting to see how Alien: Romulus stacks up to all its peers. Are you excited about this new instalment? Let us know on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
