GoldenEye 007 coming to Xbox GamePass and Nintendo Switch Online this week

January 25, 2023 by Ricky Church

James Bond is a legend on the big screen, but saying his name can bring to mind the legendary GoldenEye 007 video game for Nintendo’s N64 system. Even 25 years after its release, it is still hailed as one of the most groundbreaking and fun games ever released for defining first-person shooters and revolutionary multiplayer. Now fans will have a chance to replay the game on updated systems as it comes to the Xbox and Nintendo Switch this Friday, January 27th. Watch the trailer below…

Based on the James Bond film of the same name, GoldenEye 007 follows Bond as he has to stop an evil organization led by an old friend from firing a dangerous satellite on the world. The game was published two years after the film’s release, but that didn’t stop it from becoming a hit on the N64 and becoming a blueprint for action video games going forward.

Rare Ltd., the developers of the original game, announced GoldenEye 007 will be available through Rare Replay on Xbox GamePass and Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack members. It will feature the game’s classic four-player split screen as they battle in some classic locations across the James Bond films with iconic characters and gadgets.

Unfortunately for those on the Xbox, online multiplayer will not be available while Switch players will be able to connect online. The Xbox version, however, will be remastered with new controls, achievements and 4K resolution presented in its classic 16:9 setting.

Are you excited to replay GoldenEye 007? Have you never played before and are ready for a new generation to experience this game? Just no using Oddjob or the Golden Gun and all is fair. Let us know on our social channels at @flickeringmyth…
