Elizabeth Olsen wants a redemptive return for the Scarlet Witch in the MCU

March 21, 2023 by EJ Moreno

All Elizabeth Olsen wants is some redemption for the fan-favorite Wanda Maximoff AKA The Scarlet Witch.

Since the beginning, Olsen’s character has walked the fine line between good and evil but went total baddie in last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the character was met with a pretty sad fate by the film’s end, there are still plenty of opportunities for a return, especially with Elizabeth Olsen’s intentions for the role.

In a new interview with Screen Rant, the actress opened up about Scarlet Witch’s future and what they may look like.

“We can do anything with her now. I feel like we’ve done so much, says Olsen. “Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her. She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”

The last time we saw the character, she sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold by standing under a collapsed building. There was a slight red glow at that moment, and many fans felt that was a clue she was protecting or teleporting herself.

While her character’s return has yet to be confirmed, we will still feel Wanda’s impact in the upcoming series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The spin-off series will feature Agatha Harkness, the Scarlet Witch’s foe during WandaVision, and a cameo from Elizabeth Olsen in some form has been rumored.

As we enter the Multiverse Saga, we meet the variants of beloved MCU characters. We’ve met different Lokis and have already met a handful of Kang variants, but what about Wanda? Since Scarlet Witch went full villain in our timeline, would a new version the best way to introduce a more-friendly version? Or could she return and slowly earn her heroic stripes once more?

Only time will tell, but with Elizabeth Olsen’s openness and the MCU needing some positivity, the fan-favorite Wanda needs to return in some way, shape, or variant form. How would you like to see it happen? Let us know on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
