Pedro Pascal to star in Barbarian director Zach Cregger’s Weapons

May 10, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Pedro Pascal is set to add to his busy schedule by signing up for Weapons, the new horror from Barbarian director Zach Cregger.

Described when it was announced as “a multi-story horror epic in the vein of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia“, Deadline report that Pascal will headline Weapons for New Line Cinema.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the film thanks to the performance of Barbarian, which turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of last year (read our ★★★★ review here), grossing $40 million at the U.S. box-office, off a budget of $4.5 million.

With The Mandalorian completing its third season run on Disney+, and The Last of Us becoming the highest rated show in HBO’s history, Pascal is in demand, a fact underlined by his recent addition to the cast of Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel. Next up for the actor is Pedro Almodovar’s short film Strange Way of Life, which will premiere at the Cannes film festival.

Let us know what you thought of Barbarian, and whether you’re looking forward to whatever nightmare Cregger can put Pedro Pascal through by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
