A new Doctor Who Christmas adventure coming for Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor this December

October 15, 2023 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish have Doctor Who fans’ Christmas sorted as they announce a trio of Christmas audio adventures for the Eighth Doctor coming this December with Doctor Who – The Eighth Doctor Adventures: In the Bleak Midwinter.

Doctor Who – The Eighth Doctor Adventures: In the Bleak Midwinter brings three new adventures for the Eighth Doctor (with Paul McGann reprising his role) and his new companion, Lady Audacity Montague (played by Jaye Griffiths).

These new audio adventures for the time travellers are:

Twenty-Four Doors In December by John Dorney

When the TARDIS arrives in London on 1st December, the Doctor decides to treat his new companion to a traditional Christmas and pulls out all the stops.  Little does the Doctor know that a department store Santa named Al Norton is starting to have a very difficult month and it won’t be long before their futures collide.

The Empty Man by Tim Foley

It’s the Christmas of 1947 and Eldridge Brinkwood, a writer of ghost stories, is preparing to share another of his stories.  However, this horror is more than just a story and the Doctor and his companion must face the ruthless and relentless Empty Man.

Winter of the Demon by Roy Gill

It’s Christmas in Victorian Edinburgh and famous industrialist Sir Donald Shaw plans to transform the city with electric lights.  As the TARDIS lands, people are being found burned to death and the Doctor believes an ancient power has been summoned.  Can the Doctor prevent the Winter of the Demon?

Paul McGann and Jaye Griffiths will be joined by Jason Watkins (Line of Duty, The Crown) as Al Norton, Natalie Gumede (Coronation Street) as Chief Elf, David Robb (Downton Abbey, Wolf Hall, First Among Equals) as Sir Donald Shaw and Nickolas Grace (Robin of Sherwood, Brideshead Revisited) as Eldridge Brinkwood.

Doctor Who – The Eighth Doctor Adventures: In the Bleak Midwinter is now available to pre-order from the Big Finish website for £19.99 (collector’s edition CD box set and digital download) or £16.99 for the digital download only.  Doctor Who fans can also save money by pre-ordering both this and November’s The Eighth Doctor Adventures: Audacity for £38 for CD box set or £33 for the digital download only.
