Hayden Christensen calls it an honor to play Anakin and Darth Vader again in Star Wars

October 14, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Hayden Christensen marked his return to Star Wars not too long ago, facing off with Ewan McGregor in the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

He’d also return to the role for this year’s Ahsoka, getting to play out a little more of an Anakin story than his previous Darth Vader turn. During a recent pre-strike interview with the official Star Wars website, Christensen spoke about what it was like donning the iconic Jedi clothes again.

“Putting on the Anakin costume, getting to wear those Jedi robes, it’s such an honor,” he told StarWars.com. Adding, “And getting to put on the Darth Vader costume again, such an honor. It really imparts a feeling when you put those costumes on, and of course, I’m very familiar with the character, and I really enjoy the headspace and the emotional space that I have to inhabit.”

The conversation turns to the man who made this all happen, Star Wars filmmaker Dave Filoni, with Christensen noting:

“He’s really just incredible in terms of his artistry and his storytelling. He’s a real creative force, and his love and his passion for Star Wars is really infectious. It inspires everyone around him, myself included, and so to get to work and follow the lead of someone that inspires you, it doesn’t really get any better than that.”

With Dave Filoni building towards a MandoVerse film and countless other Star Wars projects on the horizon, it seems doubtful we’ll have seen the last of Hayden Christensen in the galaxy far, far away, but let us know what you’ve made of his return so far over on our socials @FlickeringMyth…

Star Wars: Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, David Tennant as Huyang, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.

All episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
