UPDATE: Simon Pegg reveals that Daniel Craig is playing a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

May 15, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Way back in September it was reported that 007 Daniel Craig had shot a secret cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it looks like Simon Pegg has let slip the Bond star’s role while deflecting questions about his own rumoured appearance in the hotly-anticipated Disney sequel.

During the London premiere of his new film Man Up, Pegg was asked about reports that he’ll feature in a minor role in The Force Awakens, replying that “I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper.” Pegg then attempted to retract his comments, adding “I shouldn’t have said that.”

UPDATE: It seems Pegg may have been joking around, as he has told Collider that: “Why is everyone leaping on this? It was a rumour last summer, wasn’t it? I read it in the paper. It may be untrue, like most of the other rumours, like Cumberbatch and Cruise being in it.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th and sees J.J. Abrams directing returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in addition to Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Andy Serkis (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
