Ahead of tonight’s season finale of The Flash [check out a trailer, promo and images here], Barry Allen himself Grant Gustin has been speaking to TV Guide about the future of the DC show, revealing that the plan is to introduce alternate universes in “Earth-One and Earth-Two”.
“What’s fun about this show is that there’s going to be multiple timelines as we move forward,” states Gustin. “I think we’re going to start showing Earth-One and Earth-Two in the near future. There will be kind of different dimensions going on.”

As it happens, Earth-Two was first introduced to DC comic book continuity in the pages of The Flash, with Barry travelling to the alternate Earth-Two in The Flash #123 and meeting Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash (DC would subsequenly revive many of its Golden Age heroes in this parallel universe).
Of course, there’s no indication that the show will adopt a similar storyline, and it’s likely that Gustin is referring to Barry’s time-travelling exploits leading to the creation of different timeline. Still, it certainly opens up the door to the possibility of alternate takes on some of The CW’s ever-expanding roster of DC superheroes.
