Deadpool 2’s Josh Brolin says there is a four film arc for Cable

April 18, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Josh Brolin, who plays Cable in Deadpool 2, has teased a four film arc for the character.

Deadpool was such a massive hit that there seems to be no limit for what can be achieved with the franchise going forward. With Deadpool 2 nearly upon us, one of the film’s stars, Josh Brolin, has talked about the future of his character Cable, and what fans can look forward to down the line.

Speaking to Empire Magazine (via Screen Rant), Brolin, who is also playing Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, said: “We think about it in four movie terms. We tried to think of Cable as a full arc, not just in this movie, but in the trajectory of four films. That made it a lot more fun for me. I don’t like the idea of a franchise, personally, That’s what makes the Thanos thing really great. It’s a finite thing, and I like that.”

So it sounds like we should expect Cable to survive the events of Deadpool 2, return for a third entry, and possibly one more movie. Are you excited by this prospect? Or do you need to see his performance in full before jumping on board?

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Bedlam, Lewis Tan (Iron Fist) as Shatterstar, Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) as Russell, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as the film’s villain, and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider), Eddie Marsan (Atomic Blonde) and Bill Skarsgard (It) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on May 15th 2018 in the UK and May 18th in North America.
