New Line and DC Films reportedly planning The Highwaymen movie

April 22, 2018 by Gary Collinson

According to a report over at That Hashtag Show, New Line Cinema is looking to add a new DC Films project to its upcoming slate with an adaptation of Adam Freeman and Marc Bernardin’s limited series The Highwaymen. Here’s the official synopsis for the series, which was released in 2007:

Two men. One drives, the other shoots. In their prime, they were theHighwaymen; a special breed of couriers capable of ferrying anything, anywhere, anytime. But that was long ago. Now Able “Speed” Monroe and Alistair McQueen are a little worse for wear, almost obsolete…until they are called out of retirement and must cross the river of bad blood between them to deliver some very dangerous cargo for a dead President. If only they knew what is was — and why everyone else wants to kill them for it.

If the report is accurate, The Highwaymen will become the latest non-superhero DC project in the pipeline at Warner Bros./New Line, with the Vertigo crime series The Kitchen gearing up to go into production this summer, and Steven Spielberg said to be circling an adaptation of Blackhawk.
