Nicolas Cage keen to move from acting to directing in “three or four years”

April 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having dipped his toes into the directing game back in 2002 with the James Franco-headlined Sonny, it seems that Nicolas Cage is keen to get back behind the camera in the near future – and he’s even weighing up calling time on his acting career in order to focus on his directorial aspirations.

“Directing is something I look forward to down the road,” said Cage. “Right now, I’m primarily a film performer and I’m gonna continue doing that for three or four more years and I’d like to focus more on directing.”

Of course, given the rate that Cage knocks out movies, we’ve probably still got another thirty of so performances to look forward to over that time period…

Amid a plethora of VOD and bottom-shelf straight-to-video releases, Cage has recently scored positive reviews with the horror comedy Mom & Dad, while critics have also been raving about his upcoming ultra-violent action horror Mandy during its festival run.
