G.I. Joe’s Snake Eyes is getting a solo movie

May 12, 2018 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are taking the G.I. Joe franchise down the same route as Transformers, with THR reporting that fan favourite Joe Snake Eyes is set to get his own solo movie.

According to the site, Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast, The Huntsman: Winter’s War) is in talks to pen the script for the solo movie. It’s the second big project for Spiliotopoulos this week after the news that he will also be writing the screenplay for Netflix’s Bright 2.

Snake Eyes, a silent ninja commando, is one of the original members of the G.I. Joe team, and arguably the franchise’s most popular and recognisable character.

He was portrayed by Ray Park in both G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and is also expected to feature in the next instalment of the main series, rumoured to be titled G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant.

As yet, there’s no word as to whether Park will be reprising his role in either project, nor do we have any kind of indication as to when we might expect the Snake Eyes movie. The next G.I. Joe film however is currently slated for release on March 27th 2020.
