Denis Leary says The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could have seen Spidey resurrecting the dead

July 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Yes, you did read that headline correctly…

If you needed another reason to be thankful that Sony is rebooting the Spider-Man franchise with Marvel Studios, then The Amazing Spider-Man star Denis Leary has it for you.

According to the actor, who played Captain George Stacy in the two Marc Webb directed movies, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could have featured a rather bizarre plot point, with Spidey bringing characters back from the dead.

“There was this idea, at one point, that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that died,” Leary told IGN. “So there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode three.”

Over the weekend, TASM and TASM2 director Marc Webb spoke about Sony’s upcoming reboot, saying that he was “sad to surrender” the franchise. If Leary’s comments are accurate, Webb must surely be the only person who feels that way. Well, except perhaps for Leary…
