Boba Fett director James Mangold warns that Star wars fan backlash will result in films directed by “hacks”

July 6, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Director of Lucasfilm’s planned Boba Fett movie, James Mangold, has warned fans that backlash might result in films being directed by “hacks”.

There’s been plenty of noise surrounding the fan anger and backlash directed towards Star Wars movies of late and this week James Gunn even encouraged toxic Star Wars fans to seek therapy.

James Mangold, who is said to be directing the Boba Fett Anthology film, has now chimed in on the subject himself, speaking about fan backlash and what it can lead to.

Taking to Twitter, the Logan director said: “At the point when work writing & directing big franchises has become the emotionally loaded equivalent of writing a new chapter of The Bible (w/ the probable danger of being stoned & called a blasphemer), then a lot of bolder minds r gonna leave these films 2 hacks & corp boards.”

This certainly seems to be a reference to the vitriol directors like Rian Johnson received for his work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But what do you think? Does Mangold have a point regarding the type of people that will become involved with these movies once all the filmmakers have been scared off?
